At an elevation of 1925 meters, this site is regularly used by hang gliders (HG) and features a ramp located at the mountain station. Cross-country flights are possible from here. Launch Site: - Orientation: South - Difficulty: Easy - Elevation: 1920 meters - Cable Car: Yes - Coordinates: 7.77341942, 46.70996411 - Walking Time: 2 minutes Access: From Unterseen, take the post bus to Beatenbucht. Then, take the funicular to Beatenberg. From there, proceed to the valley station of the group cable car and take it to the summit. The launch site is a large, flat meadow. Tip: The wind from behind strengthens around midday. If you can't run fast, it's better to start early! This site is interesting year-round and offers plenty of space for all pilots. Even beginners or occasional flyers can enjoy it here. Only hang gliders can launch westward from the ramp. Flight Conditions: The southern slopes of the Niederhorn provide reliable thermals early in the day. However, a north breeze is unfavorable for this site. Cross-country flights are possible towards the south (Oberland) and east (Meiringen: note the active military airfield during weekdays). Difficulty: In the afternoon, you often have to start with a bit of tailwind, so it's better to be at the launch site early.
