Paragliding -HG Jachenhausen

Jachenhausen is one of the oldest flying sites in Eastern Bavaria, Germany. It is exclusively for hang gliding (HG) and has been regularly used since the late 1980s. The site features a small ramp built above the Altmühl Valley at Teufelsfelsen, an area where the rocky terrain prevents tree growth. The ramp is a stable construction, allowing launch assistants to hold the glider on both sides during strong winds. The primary launch direction is southwest, but west winds, which are predominant, also allow for a good launch. The view from the ramp used to overlook the romantic Altmühl Valley, but now it faces the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal. Despite this change, the ramp's structure has remained unchanged for the past 25 years. Jachenhausen is one of the few remaining sites in the region where hang gliding is still frequently practiced, alongside Büchlstein (Bichlstein) near Deggendorf. The long ridge offers excellent opportunities for hours of soaring in southwest to west winds, and thermal conditions can also be favorable. Top landing is possible, and the drive from the launch site to the landing area is approximately 7 to 8 km.
