Paragliding Gurschen

The Gemsstock flying area is easily accessible from Andermatt via the cable car. From the Gurschneralp mid-station, you can reach one of the launch sites within 10 minutes. The launch sites at Gemsstock are over 600 meters higher, offering a particularly scenic flight down to Andermatt. This area is especially suitable for soaring when there are north winds. Due to its northern exposure, thermals are best found on the sunny slopes. The launch site is located at an altitude of 2280 meters and is accessible via a cable car. The coordinates for the launch site are 8.59688215, 46.61690495. The launch area is large, moderately steep, and free of obstacles. It is situated on the hill west of the Gurschneralp mid-station of the Gemsstockbahn. The path to the launch site leads counterclockwise around the hill from the station. In winter, this site is not recommended as it becomes a ski slope. However, in summer and autumn, it is a good soaring area with Bise or valley winds (caution: valley winds can reach 30 to 40 km/h).
