Altitude: 1509 m / Medium This site is occasionally used for soaring, with some potential for cross-country flights. Launch Site: Launch Window: Orientation: South Difficulty: Medium Altitude: 1500 m Cable Car: No Coordinates: 8.03280404, 46.92885146 Hiking Time: 15 minutes Access: Drive to Mittl. Farneren, then walk to the launch site. The launch area is short with tree tops in front. In zero wind conditions, it's better to launch from the left side of the small hill and fly around it (see photo). Farneren and Schafmatt can be reached from SchüpfheimLU. The area offers various interesting launch options, though few are still active and official due to somewhat challenging accessibility. Farneren can be accessed by car followed by a short 15-minute walk from Mittl. Farneren. The hike to Schafmatt is significantly longer, taking about 1.5 hours. Flight: The area offers excellent valley wind soaring opportunities. At Schafmatt, there is a launch site on the summit ridge with good soaring conditions in northwest wind. Farneren is best for soaring in valley wind conditions.
