Description: This flying area becomes thermally active in the afternoon. In the evening, it is an ideal spot for soaring in the dynamic valley wind. If you return from a cross-country flight in the late afternoon, you can find thermals at Danielsweid to extend your flight.
Access: In Blankenburg, turn off the main road next to the armory. After 200 meters, turn right towards Schlatt, then keep right along the slope and drive uphill until you reach the windsock.
Caution: The flying site is within the control zone of Zweisimmen airfield. Obtaining take-off permission via phone at +41 33 722 25 77 is essential! During summer, the airfield is busy with glider camps. Landing at the launch site is challenging. The gliders' circling area is above the village. Strong easterly winds can be turbulent. After take-off, enter the thermals by flying left along the slope. The most reliable lift is found at the end of the slope due to the Venturi effect.
Landing: Until further notice, no landings are allowed at the airfield. Exceptions can only be granted by the airfield manager or his deputy (PPR is mandatory for ALL).
