Description
Located in the Ramsau region of Austria, this paragliding site offers a challenging experience suitable only for professional pilots. The launch point is at an altitude of 2672 meters, with a height difference of 1500-2000 meters. The site is rarely used and not officially documented, so information is limited.
The launch itself is breathtaking, as you essentially run off an overhanging snow cornice into the void. However, be cautious of strong west winds, as they can place you in the lee of the neighboring peak. There are several cables running into the valley and around the peak, all marked on maps and color-coded on the rocks.
Access to the site is via a cable car or toll road. The terrain is a glacier area with snowfields, and the landing zones are either at the training ground of the Aufwind flight school (with a height difference of 1500 meters) or at Planai (with a height difference of 2000 meters).
Be aware that the glacier can change significantly, sometimes creating an extreme edge due to wind, making the launch impossible. Additionally, avoid flying too close to the slopes or walls, especially during hunting season.
