Description
At an elevation of 2514 meters with a height difference of approximately 650 meters, this launch site in Owens Valley, USA, is rarely used but offers potential for cross-country flights. Historically significant, it has been overshadowed by better alternatives in recent years. The site is unregulated, and it is recommended for experienced H3 and H4 pilots.
Mike Patterson, the owner of Cerro Gordo town, has designated this as the only launch site we are welcome to use. He has been very supportive of hang glider pilots, and it is advisable to respect his property and not challenge his decisions. Previous launches at the radio/microwave towers north and south of the saddle were closed due to pilots' misconduct, including climbing on the towers and littering.

The road from Cerro Gordo town to the lower launch point is a rough 4WD road, and the road to the peak is locked off. Be prepared for a long glide. For weather forecasts, you can check:
