The launch is situated on a ridge with an elevation of 267 meters, and flights typically range between 1,300 to 2,900 meters in length. This site is occasionally used and is known for its scenic flights along the Mediterranean cliffs and the last mountains of the Sierra de Bernia. Launching from Morro de Toix can be challenging due to the steep incline. Pilots must be prepared to fly immediately after lifting the wing, as there is little room for error. Ideal wind conditions for takeoff are between 15 and 20 km/h. A good indicator of suitable wind conditions is the presence of seagulls at the launch site; if they are not visible, the wind may be too weak. Landing options include the beach (not recommended during high season) or the Sport Boat Harbour Campomanes. It is crucial to avoid attempting a beach landing during summer months or if you do not have sufficient altitude. In such cases, land at the Campomanes Nautical Club area. The flight itself is typically an afternoon activity, offering stunning views of Calpe and its impressive rock formation behind the launch, and Benidorm with its towering skyscrapers in the distance. Pilots need to be experienced and vigilant about wind speed changes. If the wind increases and whitecaps appear on the water, head to the landing zone immediately. Conversely, if the wind decreases and you start descending, land promptly to avoid ending up in the water. Special caution is needed if the wind shifts to a strong westerly direction, as it can make reaching the landing zone difficult. Top landing is not recommended due to the steep slope. To reach the launch site, drive from Calpe towards Marracat-Toix. Before descending towards the tunnels, turn left into the Mar y Villa urbanization and follow the signs to Mirador Morro de Toix. Park your car at the chain barrier and walk for 5 minutes to enjoy incredible views. Alternatively, if coming from Marracat-Toix, turn right after the tunnels into the same urbanization and follow the same directions. Local pilots often enjoy a spectacular round trip to Bernia. It is advised to get a local briefing before flying, as the site can become crowded and has specific hazards. Flying is best with a southwest wind and not recommended with a pure west wind.
