The launch site is located at an elevation of 2700 meters and is considered medium-easy in difficulty. It is occasionally used for panoramic flights and offers various launch options. To reach the launch site, you will need to hike from the Calandahütte, which takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours on foot. The starting point is a steep slope with fine gravel. You can drive up to the Calanda-Hütte and then proceed on foot to the launch site. Calanda is not just a favorite brew of the Bündner. The Calanda is a mountain range in the northern part of the canton of Graubünden and the southern part of the canton of St. Gallen, northwest of Chur. It belongs to the northern limestone Alps and forms the easternmost end of the Glarus Alps. The Calanda ridge consists of a series of peaks stretching from southwest to northeast. The southwestern corner is marked by the Taminser Calanda (2390 meters above sea level), followed by Felsberger Calanda (2697 meters above sea level), Haldensteiner Calanda (with 2806 meters above sea level, the highest peak of the group), and finally Berger Calanda (2270 meters above sea level) as the northeastern corner.
