From the end of the Engstligental valley, take the cable car to Engstligenalp. From there, it's a 15-minute walk to the launch site. The launch area is a steep, narrow grassy strip.
This area is less frequented during the summer, offering an alternative to 'Schwandfeldspitz,' the second flying mountain of Adelboden. Due to the orientation of the flying area, soaring and gliding flights to Adelboden are more common. Cross-country flights are generally not started from Engstligenalp.
Engstligenalp is the largest high plateau in the western Swiss Alps, located south of Adelboden at an altitude of 1900 - 2000 meters. Since 1996, it has been recognized as a cultural landscape of national importance.
To the north, it is bordered by the Fitzer (2458m), to the west by the Ammertenspitz, and to the southwest by the dominant Wildstrubel (3240m). To the east, it connects to Steghorn, Tierhörnli, Chindbettihorn, Engstligengrat, and Tschingellochtighorn. The Ärtelengrat forms the northeastern boundary towards Alp Hinterengstligen.
The valley floor is an oval shape, extending 1 km north-south and 2 km east-west, consisting of flat alpine meadows.
Access from the north is via a mule track blasted into the rock face next to the 600 m high Engstligen Falls.
