Avoid flying in north wind conditions. There are no official landing sites, and landing in high grass is prohibited from May 1st to mid-June. Always inspect the area and ask for advice if needed. Summer valley winds can be strong.

To reach Alp Grüm, take the Rhaetian Railway from Poschiavo, a 45-minute journey. From Alp Grüm station, it's a 20-minute walk northeast along a hiking trail past Hotel Belvedere. The ideal takeoff spot is a 10-minute walk behind the hotel on a meadow.
The takeoff is of medium difficulty. The flight can become challenging with thermal activity. Fly south towards the Gletschergarten (worth seeing!) and, if possible, towards Poschiavo. If the thermal rotor is strong, pilots may not clear the rock ledge and should return to land at Cavaglia station (1695 m). From there, pilots can walk to Varuna or hitchhike to Poschiavo.
No flights in north wind conditions. The area is demanding; observe the terrain carefully while ascending by train. Note the high-voltage power line east of the Gletschergarten in Cavaglia.
The flight is fantastic, but flight tactics are crucial. West of Cavaglia, conditions are usually better. Land north or south of Poschiavo or on the plain north of the lake (15 km from the takeoff spot) only on mowed fields. The view of Valposchiavo, Piz Palü, and Palü Glacier is spectacular.
Cable car: Train, Rhaetian Railway from Poschiavo - Cavaglia - Alp Grüm or from Bernina Pass to Alp Grüm.
