Description
Located in Liguria, Italy, this paragliding site offers a scenic yet occasionally used takeoff point just above the railway. The takeoff area is narrow but provides a stunning view. Due to its low altitude of 181 meters, a strong wind is necessary for dynamic soaring; otherwise, you'll find yourself landing on the beach within seconds.
The site is suitable for both paragliding and hang gliding, with an east-northeast facing takeoff. The efficiency ratio is 1:3. To reach the takeoff point, drive from Alassio towards the now-abandoned Hotel Puerta del Sol. After approximately 3 kilometers, you'll find the takeoff area just below the road before a sharp right turn. It's easily identifiable by numerous wind direction indicators. The grassy area is well-maintained, with a good slope that allows for the simultaneous launch of a couple of wings.
Pilots typically use the dynamic currents rising from the nearby valley for soaring. On favorable days, it's possible to gain altitude and glide over Laigueglia, eventually reaching Capo Mele. While the usual landing spot is the beach in Alassio, landing on the beach in Laigueglia is also an option, though it's less recommended due to its smaller size.
