The take-off site is located at an altitude of 1620 meters, right next to the Unterschächen mountain station. This site is considered difficult and is rarely used. There are no flight logs available for this location, and it is likely suitable only for short glides. The take-off area is oriented to the north and is a flat spot for laying out your wing, followed by a terrain edge and a steep grassy slope. It is recommended to use this site only in the summer, as downdrafts are common in the winter. Coordinates: 8.78934868, 46.85675365 From Unterschächen, travel approximately 800 meters on the pass road towards the Klausen Pass. At the hamlet of Ribi, take the cable car to Alp Wannelen. The take-off site is just a one-minute walk from the cable car station. The Schächental area is known for its strong valley winds during the summer. The entire valley is dotted with hay and transport cables, which can pose additional challenges. For more information or inquiries about the cable car, you can contact Josef Schuler-Arnold at +41 (0)41/879 14 43. The site is situated at the foot of the Klausen Pass, surrounded by the impressive steep peaks of the Urner Alps, including Windgälle, Ruchen, and Clariden. If you plan to fly in colder seasons, consider moving a bit higher to the 'Wanneler Egg' for better thermal conditions.
