Surf Whitsand Bay

Whitsand Bay - Near Plymouth Whitsand Bay features a sandy beach break with both right and left-hand waves, offering ordinary to fun power. The beach stretches nearly 4 kilometers and is accessible via a short 5-15 minute walk from a lay-by adjacent to the Range gate. Note that access may be restricted during military operations. This nearly deserted beach is a hidden gem, especially at low tide when it opens up, providing ample space for surfers. Popular spots like Boiler Beach and Freathy Rocks often yield good banks, particularly from September to February when swells are more consistent. While the vibe is laid-back, be cautious of rocks at high tide and the steep access trails. Parking is limited, so plan accordingly, and always check for military restrictions before heading out.
