Description
Pillar Point - Washington
Pillar Point features a left-point break with a sandy bottom interspersed with rocks, offering fast and fun waves. The spot is best surfed at mid tide, with optimal conditions arising from northwest swells and winds from the west to southeast.
This secluded surf location is accessed via a short 5-15 minute walk from the Pysht River Road, following Hwy 112. Pillar Point is ideal for practicing drop knee or cutback turns, though it lacks heavy barrels. On most days, the crowd is minimal, often consisting of just a few longboarders sharing waves. The area includes two breaks: a mushy peak near the river mouth and a more powerful wave that walls up around the point. Be cautious of rocks while enjoying this tranquil surf spot.
