Surf Paúba

Paúba - Brazil Paúba features a powerful beach break with both right and left waves, breaking over a sandy bottom. The spot is known for its hollow and fast waves, particularly during huge south or southwest swells. It works best at low and mid tide, with rising and falling tides, but can be dangerous due to rips and undertow. Located near the famous Maresias beach, Paúba is about 2.5 hours by car from São Paulo via the Rio-Santos highway. The atmosphere is intense, attracting experienced surfers seeking heavy shorebreak. While the weekdays are relatively empty, weekends can be ultra-crowded. If Paúba's conditions are too gnarly, nearby Praia Santiago offers similar heavy waves, while Guaecá provides a more mellow alternative. Be mindful of localism at these spots, especially when the surf is pumping.
