Surf Makapuu

Makapuu - Oahu, Hawaii Makapuu features both right and left breaking waves that are known for their hollow and fast characteristics. The spot is located at 21.3102° N latitude and -157.6562° W longitude, with optimal conditions arising from swell directions of Southeast, East, and Northeast, and wind directions from Northwest, West, and Southwest. Situated just north of Makapu'u Point, this surf spot is popular for bodyboarding and bodysurfing, particularly at the northern end known as Suicides, where the waves break over shallow rock and reef. Access is straightforward with a paved road and ample parking at Makapu'u Beach Park. While the crowd is generally friendly, it can become crowded on weekends or when conditions are prime. The surf season is year-round, but winter typically offers the best waves. Caution is advised for inexperienced surfers due to the heavy shorebreak and potential jellyfish presence.
