Description

Desert Point (Bangko-Bangko) - Lombok, Indonesia Desert Point features long, hollow left-hand reef breaks that culminate in barrels, making it a coveted surf destination. This spot is best surfed during low tide with a rising tide, requiring a significant southwest swell to deliver optimal conditions. The sharp coral reef bottom poses a risk, and surfers should be cautious of rips and undertow. Accessing Desert Point involves a lengthy journey: take a bus from Kuta to Padang Bai, followed by a ferry to Lembar in Lombok, and then a Bimo to the beach accommodations. Expect a total travel time of around 8 hours. The atmosphere here is renowned, having been voted "The Best Wave in the World" by Aussie Tracks magazine, although it is known for its inconsistency. On the right day, however, the rewards are immense, with few surfers in the water during the week, allowing for an enjoyable session in this stunning location.
