Surf Boca Barranca

Boca Barranca - Costa Rica Boca Barranca is a renowned left-hand point break characterized by flat rocks and sand on the bottom. It requires a significant south swell to produce optimal conditions, typically working at low and mid tide. The waves can reach up to 800 meters, offering fast and fun rides, but the spot can become ultra-crowded, especially on weekends. Located just north of Puerto Caldera, Boca Barranca is easily accessible via a bridge over the Rio Barranca. The atmosphere is generally friendly, attracting both longboarders and shortboarders, although localism can be an issue. The spot is known for its mellow sections, making it suitable for various skill levels. Be cautious of river runoff, which can discolor the water, and watch for crocodiles in the vicinity.
