Description

4 Mile - North of Santa Cruz 4 Mile features right-breaking waves over a rocky reef with a flat rock bottom. This spot is known for its hollow and fun waves, particularly at low and mid tides during rising tide conditions. Access involves a long walk (over 30 minutes) from a dirt parking area, which can be crowded on weekends. Situated four miles north of Santa Cruz, 4 Mile is a consistent surf spot that attracts a friendly yet competitive crowd. The atmosphere is vibrant, with surfers and families gathering in the protected area known as "the oven." While the paddle out is manageable on smaller days, caution is advised for beginners on larger swells. Expect a mix of local surfers and visitors, but be prepared for localism and respect the established vibe. Bring a shortboard or funboard to navigate the rocky bottom effectively.
