Zoutelande, Netherlands This site offers a medium-difficult paragliding experience with a height of 40 meters. It is particularly known for its dune soaring, with dunes stretching up to 10 km long and reaching heights of up to 45 meters. The official takeoff area is relatively small, measuring 14x8 meters, and is surrounded by thorn bushes both behind and below, requiring pilots to be very secure starters with a low margin for error. The site can become quite crowded on good weekends. The highest dune in Holland, approximately 60 meters, is located here and is suitable for takeoff in a southwest wind direction. The takeoff area is a small sandy patch on the edge of a high dune, next to the KNVvL information board. Access to the takeoff point is via stairs from Camping Valkanisse & Meerpal, starting in the region of Camping Meerpal stairs. The takeoff area is relatively wide but vulnerable to high wind situations. Zoutelande has been a popular spot for both hang gliders and paragliders for years. The dunes, ranging from 30 to 45 meters, allow for kilometers of flight along their length. An official flying site has been established in collaboration with the municipality of Veere, the Water Board of Zeeland Islands, and KNVvL. Flying periods: - September 1 to June 14 - June 15 to August 31, from 18:00 until sunset Maximum wind speed for paragliders: 25 km/h Maximum number of pilots: 15 (combined for paragliders and hang gliders) Valid regulations: - Basic safety regulations for gliding and paragliding - Latest edition of the gliding and paragliding handbook - Pilots must hold at least the KNVvL Brevet 2 or an equivalent ICAO-recognized license.
