Description
Military airspace restrictions are in place in the LP R60A airspace between the surface and 4000 feet, spanning from Nazaré to near Figueira da Foz. Flying in this area is strictly prohibited and violations can result in severe penalties and large fines. For more details, visit [Cavok Portugal](https://cavok.pt/fuaflex/fua-portugal/).
This coastal site is popular for beach soaring and offers numerous takeoff options. It is frequently used, and the most common takeoff spot is well-known among local pilots. However, always consult with locals regarding airspace regulations, as flying here might be tolerated but is not officially sanctioned.
The takeoff area is oriented towards the west and southwest. Access is convenient, with roads leading almost directly to the takeoff point. From the north, you can take the road connecting S. Pedro de Moel to Paredes de Vitória, passing Água de Medeiros. From the south, use the road between Pataias and Paredes de Vitória, continuing towards Água de Medeiros.
The takeoff zone is spacious and obstacle-free, with a 30° incline and a length of approximately 25 meters. The ground is sandy but firm. This site is ideal for beginners due to its easy takeoff and landing conditions. It also offers excellent opportunities for practicing top-landing, making it a safe environment for less experienced pilots to improve their skills.
Dynamic flying is technically straightforward along the sandy cliff face. The ideal wind direction for a long dynamic flight is from the west, allowing pilots to fly south along the cliff to the northwest takeoff at Paredes de Vitória. Flying north is also appealing, with a 4 km route to S. Pedro de Moel that poses minimal technical challenges.
Landing on the beach is easy due to the extensive sandy area. Top-landing is also accessible, as previously mentioned. If you land on the beach, you can either walk a short distance back to the takeoff point or use a vehicle for the ascent.
