Description
The launch site is located above the Seminarhotel Wasserfallen. It is rarely used but offers opportunities for soaring and cross-country flights. There is also a lower launch option available. This small flying hill is situated near Reigoldswil. Please refer to the club's homepage for specific guidelines.

From the Wasserfallen mountain station, it takes about 10-15 minutes on foot to reach the launch site. The launch area is a steep, uneven mountain meadow, and the flight path is very shallow until you clear the forest edge. This site is not suitable for beginners. Evening thermals are present. The launch site is only accessible via the gondola, and there are no parking facilities available.
Landing is in Reigoldswil. The upper landing field (shown on the left in the image) is equipped with a windsock. Alternatively, you can land on various mowed meadows closer to the valley station.
The site is best suited for northwesterly winds and should not be used during side winds (Bise), as it becomes difficult to clear the forest. The launch slope is steep and undulating, located at the top edge of the forest. The flight path includes flying over a farmhouse, and the forest edge can be tight, with very limited emergency landing options.
To reach the launch site, walk for 10 minutes from the Wasserfallenbahn mountain station. Exit to the left, pass the rope park, and continue towards the farmhouse where you will see the launch site above. Follow the road until you reach a field path that leads back to the launch site. The launch area is in a forest bay, and the height is somewhat limited to clear the forest edge, so conditions need to be favorable.
The Wasserfallen area is a popular recreational spot in the Basel region. It is well-connected and easily accessible by public transport (from Liestal, take bus 70 to the 'Reigoldswil Dorfplatz' stop; a 10-minute walk to the Wasserfallenbahn valley station or continue with bus 91 to Lauwil).
