Located in the Valais region of Switzerland, this paragliding site at an altitude of 2170 meters is perfect for afternoon flights, especially with its west-facing takeoff. It is also suitable for flights in northerly winds. Pilots typically use the cable car to reach the takeoff point.
The takeoff area is a moderately steep grassy slope situated between cables, just a short 5-minute walk from the Les Ruinettes cable car station. Top landing is possible but challenging.
Verbier is a popular destination for paragliding enthusiasts, offering various takeoff and landing spots. Before flying, it's advisable to get a proper briefing. Large information boards are available at strategic locations.
For cross-country flights, you can head towards Val de Bagnes, Col de la Forclaz, or even Fiesch. However, be cautious of the glaciers to the south and the tricky landings in the Rhone Valley. Thermic flights are recommended in the morning or afternoon, and a few hours of soaring can be quite enjoyable.
In case of north wind conditions, it's better to stay in the hut and observe the weather, especially the development of thunderstorms and unpredictable thermals. During summer, a strong valley wind is common. The area is well-developed, so be mindful of various cables.
