Description
Located at an altitude of 1490 meters with a height difference of 890 meters, this paragliding site is moderately popular. Although it is frequently used, it is not the best launch direction for Kössen. From the chairlift's mountain station, a five-minute walk towards Niederhauser Valley will bring you to the launch site. The launch area is an alpine meadow with a terrain drop-off, offering good soaring conditions and potential for cross-country flights.
This site is in the Tirol region of Austria. The site record is 173.3 km, and the regional record is 300.0 km.
It is suitable for launching only in light west winds. Pilots are advised not to fly longer or lower than the launch site. Caution is necessary around the Niederhauser Valley as it is not a landing area and lies in the lee of the valley wind, often referred to as the 'Bermuda Triangle' due to numerous crashes.
