Located in the Kamloops region of Canada, this paragliding site, known as "The Pimple," offers a unique flying experience. The launch elevation is 3300 feet above sea level, with a landing zone at 2000 feet. The site is primarily used for soaring and sled rides due to its location within an airport-controlled zone, which limits cross-country potential. The launch direction is east-facing, making it a good morning and surprisingly good afternoon site. The launch area is a slope into a ravine, typically sheltered and launchable. The road to the launch site is accessible by any vehicle and is usually plowed in winter, making it a year-round destination. The landing zone consists of large fields at the bottom of the mountain, east of the access road turnoff. Be aware that winds can be strong at lower levels. Important regulations include the need to reset your altimeter to the accurate launch altitude before flying. Additionally, you must contact the Transport Canada Flight Services Station at 250-376-7941 before any flight within the Kamloops control zone. This is mandatory to provide information about your flight plan, including departure and destination points, time period, expected altitude, and whether you carry a radio.
