Description
This paragliding site in Denmark is rarely used and has a maximum height of 8 meters with a length of up to 1500 meters. The site record is 1.3 km.
Public access is available to the beach for both starting and landing. However, there is a restricted area between the parking area and the west slope where beach starts are not allowed. Please refer to the photo for more details.
Access to the top start area is over private land and is only permitted when accompanied by members of the island's Paraglider Club. It is crucial to respect this rule to avoid being denied access to the area. Sønderby cliffs is the main flying site for the FPC, so always coordinate with FPC members before using the slopes. Contact information can be found on the club's contact page.
There is a small restricted area between the parking area and the west slope where neither beach starts nor top starts are allowed. This area has crops growing to the edge year-round, and there have been incidents where paragliders have damaged the crops. To avoid further issues, do not use this area for starting or landing.
The southwest and west slopes are approximately 35 meters high and are excellent for flying. You can start and land from both the beach and the top. There is also a smaller southwest slope, about 7 meters high, which can be used if the wind is too strong on the higher southwest slope. Be cautious of the crops on top of the cliff.
Directions: Take exit 52 towards Assens/Odense SV on highway E20 at Odense. Drive towards Assens on road number 168. Follow the green road signs to the parking area. Make sure to contact an FPC member for further guidance.
