Description
Sölden is primarily a winter flying site. Locals typically fly only in the mornings. During the flying season (summer), there is often a strong valley wind from the north, and in the evening, a strong downdraft from the Rettenbach Glacier. These winds can be associated with severe turbulence.
Flight
Be cautious of the material cable car from Farst, which is located in front of a beautiful south-facing wall that invites soaring.
Difficulty
The launch area is a steep ski slope. The space is just enough to lay out and tension the lines, and it gets steep quickly as you start running. This makes it difficult to abort a launch cleanly. Be cautious, as this is high alpine terrain.
