Paragliding Skogen, Svorkmo

The launch site is located approximately 20 minutes south of Orkanger, towards Rindal/Surnadal. After passing Vormstad and a straight stretch of road, you'll see a nursery on your right. Continue for another 75 meters until you see a sign for Bygdetun, where you should turn. At the highest point of the road (about 2-3 km), there is a red house on the left side, overlooking the valley. All the houses have turf roofs. Near the mailbox, you'll find a sign marked "Skogen." Adjacent to the road and the house is a clearing that leads out to the valley. Parking is available on the left side about 50 meters before the driveway to this house, near the edge of the forest. Alternatively, you can park at the entrance to an unused barn. The homeowner and landowner have also permitted parking in their yard near the pasture, but this should be a last resort to avoid overstepping their hospitality. Regardless, there is a 20-meter carry year-round. The primary direction for takeoff is southeast, but it can also work well with other directions (north) with some thermal activity. The site has potential for both ridge soaring and thermal flying. Photos will be added later. The main landing area is in the field directly below the launch. Permission for landing has been granted by all local farmers. There are also opportunities for top landings in the neighboring fields and at the launch site itself. If you continue straight past "Skogen," the road begins to descend again, eventually leading back to the main road between Svorkmo and Storås. You'll pass an old launch site familiar to some. Across the main road at the bottom is the primary landing area, a vast field. This route is the quickest for retrieval or a new flight.
