Description
Rellerli, located in the Bern region of Switzerland, is a popular spot for paragliding, especially for those who enjoy soaring in west winds. The site offers various take-off points along the ridge, with the most common being next to or below the toboggan run.
The altitude ranges from 1780 to 1820 meters, providing good soaring conditions with west or southwest winds. Cross-country flights are possible, although thermal connections can be challenging to find. The west wind is often more pronounced here compared to other flying sites in the Saanenland area.
When flying towards Gstaad or Hornberg, exercise increased caution due to the approach path of the Saanen airfield. In strong valley winds, it is advisable to use the lower landing site. During summer, avoid landing on the large meadow.
Wind conditions are favorable with all westward directions and valley winds, but avoid flying in strong Bise winds. Be aware of the strong winds that can occur during take-off and the flight path of the Saanen airfield.
Flight routes include following the ridge to the east or starting with a valley crossing to the north, south, and west. The site is particularly suitable for west wind soaring and morning thermals.
For take-off, the main launch site is a moderately steep meadow accessible via a gondola from Schönried. The coordinates for the launch site are 7.26274767, 46.50881861, and it is situated at an altitude of 1800 meters. The walk from the gondola to the launch site takes about 5 minutes.
For flights towards Saanen, Schönried, or Rougemont, it is essential to notify the Saanen airfield in advance. You can contact them at +41 (0)33/744 40 25 or on frequency 119.425.
