The takeoff site is located at an elevation of 3430 meters and is considered difficult. It is rarely used but offers good cross-country flying potential. The site is accessible via a 30-minute walk from the top station of the Corvatsch cable car in Surlej.
There are two takeoff directions available:
1. **Takeoff Direction: NE**
- Difficulty: Difficult
- Elevation: 3430 meters
- Coordinates: 9.82035685, 46.41289152
- Description: The takeoff area starts flat and then becomes very steep.
2. **Takeoff Direction: NW**
- Difficulty: Difficult
- Elevation: 3430 meters
- Coordinates: 9.8203766, 46.41334109
- Description: The takeoff area is a moderately steep, 50-meter long snowfield.
Additional Information:
- The ascent from the cable car station is short but requires crampons and an ice axe due to the exposed ice on the ridge, which can be life-threatening if not properly equipped.
- The altitude should be taken seriously, both for flight techniques and decision-making abilities.
- Be cautious of the Maloja wind; it is advisable to start in the morning.
