Description
At an elevation of 1922 meters with a height difference of 480 meters, this paragliding site in Oregon, USA, offers excellent cross-country (XC) potential. The site is occasionally used and is unregulated, making it suitable for H3 pilots and H2 pilots with an instructor.
To reach the launch site, drive up to the observatory and take a right at the campground. Continue driving up to the towers and park your vehicle. From there, go over the fence and head down to a small clearing. The launch faces southwest and is known for funneling winds and strong thermals, making it a popular spot for hang gliders as well.
Be cautious of the landing area, which is somewhat canyonesque. Hiking back up to your car is likely the best way to return. This site is known for its strong conditions, so be prepared. The ideal wind direction for this site is between 200 and 250 degrees.
