Santa Maria Maggiore, Valle Vigezzo in Italy offers a classic alpine paragliding experience. The valley's east-west orientation ensures generous thermal conditions, often even in winter, when you can take off from ski slopes. Both beginners and experienced pilots can find great satisfaction here by choosing the right season and flight time.

- Cima Trubbio at approximately 2050 meters
- Cima 2 at approximately 1800 meters
Landing Zone: Centro del Fondo - Camping La Pineta at approximately 800 meters.
Valle Vigezzo, located between the Lepontine Alps, is one of the most beautiful valleys in the Ossola region. Unlike other valleys, it is traversed by two streams flowing in opposite directions, creating a wide, flat valley where seven villages are situated. Positioned near the Swiss border, it offers a splendid view of the Monte Rosa massif. The dominant winds blowing from east to west and the multiple slopes in the upper part of the valley make it an ideal location for free flight.
Access is easy via the A26 motorway to Gravellona Toce, then the SS33 del Sempione, exiting at Masera and following signs to Valle Vigezzo. From Switzerland, you can reach it by passing through Locarno, taking the road to Losone, continuing on the Golino-Intragna route, and following the Centovalli road past the border.
On favorable weekends, pilots gather around 11:00 AM at the landing zone parking in Santa Maria Maggiore. From there, they head together to the cable car station in Prestinone.
Most takeoff points are accessible via the Piana di Vigezzo cable car or chairlift, except for the Faedo takeoff, which requires a 30-minute walk from the Alpe Blitz parking area.
