Paragliding Pfunds Kobler

Located in Pfunds, Austria, this paragliding site offers a launch altitude of 2096 meters with a height difference of 1127 meters. It is regularly used and suitable for cross-country flights, not just for hang gliding. The site is known for its excellent thermals and cross-country flying conditions, managed by the Paragleitclub Pfunds. Access to the launch site at Kobler Bergwiesen is exclusively via the club's bus service. Private vehicles are strictly prohibited, even for club members. Guest pilots should arrange transport with a club member. Each trip must be logged with the driver's name, mileage, and fare collected. The fare is €15 per trip, with meeting times at 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM at the gas station on the main road, provided the access road is snow-free. The launch site allows takeoff in all wind directions due to strong thermals, despite its southeast orientation. This has been successfully practiced for over 21 years. The site supports simultaneous launches of a large number of pilots and offers good conditions for hang gliders as well. For those using the Greit launch site at 1350 meters above sea level, access is via the municipal road towards Greit. Note that there is no parking available, and a 15-minute walk along a forest path is required. Launching is only permitted with west winds, and caution is advised due to potential rotor effects from valley winds. Launching is allowed only from October 1st to April 30th. The landing site is located on the fields behind Pfunds-Dorf, towards Kajetansbrücke (Reschenpass), near the first fork in the field path. Parking on adjacent fields is strictly prohibited to avoid conflicts with local farmers and club members. A notice board with current information and a club hut offering drinks are available at the landing site. Pilots are requested to pack their gliders only at the designated landing area. Strong valley winds can create turbulence due to a row of trees along the Inn River, so it is advisable to avoid this area during landing.
