Paragliding Mostar Planinica

Located in the Mostar region of Bosnia and Herzegovina, this paragliding site offers a take-off height of 770 meters and a height difference of 650 meters. It is regularly used and suitable for cross-country flights, making it one of the best spots in the area. Toplanding is possible here. Thermal activity is prominent from March to October, with the best conditions for afternoon ridge soaring combined with gentle thermals from 16:00 until dusk. Average lift ranges from 3 to 5 m/s. The site provides ample take-off space, although the terrain is rocky and steep, making it technically easier to launch tandems. Soaring the southwest slope offers a unique experience of 'chasing the sunset,' where the setting sun behind the mountain creates a smooth, constant lift. The landing zone is not visible from the take-off area, and you must maintain a safe altitude to fly over power lines to reach your landing spot. During the peak summer months (end of July to early August), the temperature gradient is low, resulting in fewer thermals but excellent afternoon soaring conditions. There are two take-off points: 1. The southwest-facing take-off is at 790 meters ASL. It is a rocky area with limited grass, accommodating up to three gliders at a time. This spot is ideal for afternoon ridge and thermal soaring. 2. The east-facing take-off is suitable for morning thermals, with the best time for take-off between 11:00 and 13:00.
