Description
Monte Generoso, located in the Tessin region of Switzerland, offers a popular paragliding site with multiple launch options and the potential for cross-country flights. The main launch site is easily accessible via the Monte Generoso Railway from Capolago.
Launch Sites:
The official launch site is near the pine forest, which you can reach by walking a few minutes southwest from the restaurant at the summit. Another launch option is directly next to the restaurant, but the official site is recommended for better conditions.
Landing Sites:
The primary landing site is a football field equipped with a windsock, located next to the new sports center in Riva S. Vitale. There are no significant obstacles, and it's about a 5-minute walk from the landing site to the Monte Generoso Railway. Be cautious of strong valley winds, especially in spring and summer, which can make it difficult to reach the landing zone. An alternative landing site is in Melano, in a field south of the Paradiso campsite, which requires a landing fee unless you are a member of the local flying club.
Flight Types:
Monte Generoso, standing at 1704 meters, offers various flight paths. You can fly north towards Monte Boglia and continue into the Sopraceneri region, or head south towards Monte Cornizzolo in Italy. For shorter flights, you can descend towards Dosso Bello, Monte Caviano, and Monte Bisbino before returning to the summit. The site is also used for safety courses by many Swiss flight schools, with flights heading west over the lake and landing in Melano.

Weather and Conditions:
Ideal flying conditions are typically found with light south and southwest winds. The maximum allowed altitude is 3800 meters towards Switzerland and 2700 meters towards Italy. Be aware of the CTR Lugano-Agno airspace restrictions.
