Description
At an altitude of 1876 meters with a height difference of 1576 meters, this site is occasionally used, primarily during the winter season. In summer, strong winds make it less favorable. There are various takeoff possibilities between this point and 'Kuhleitenalm' at 2200 meters, but most pilots prefer to take off near the cable car station. Small cross-country flights are possible from here.
Located in Italy, this site has a record flight distance of 29.4 km. The cable car operates from early May to November and from early December to early April. This area is particularly interesting during the winter season and in spring when many other cable cars are closed.
Meran 2000 is an excellent winter flying site in the Vinschgau region. A new launch site has been established next to the newly constructed mountain station. In winter, you can land on a meadow near the Meran 2000 valley station, slightly above, about 1-2 km along the road to Hafling.
Please note: As of June 2015, the horse racing track in Meran is no longer available for landings. Pilots landing there may face police reports from the management.
