Paragliding Lenzerheide_Parpaner Rothorn Süd

Located in the Graubünden region of Switzerland, this paragliding site offers a launch altitude of 2800 meters. The site is regularly used and is suitable for both soaring and cross-country flights. Multiple launch options are available, making it slightly better than the first launch site. To reach the launch area, you will need to walk for about 45 minutes. The usual starting area is accessible after a 15-minute ascent towards the east. Note that restricted areas are marked at the mountain stations. The launch site is a moderately steep meadow facing south. Weather conditions can be challenging to assess. Flight conditions vary with wind direction. West winds are not ideal, but in the absence of wind, thermal conditions are excellent. South winds are also favorable. You can cover some distance along the western slopes, with Chur or Landquart being reachable destinations. However, be cautious of turbulent conditions caused by the Föhn and the valley wind from the north, especially in mid-year. Landing near Valbella can often be turbulent. The Rothorn is a year-round paragliding site known for its strong thermals and excellent soaring conditions. It offers stunning views, even in winter. The site has been a popular starting point for paragliders for many years, with launch areas in various directions. However, due to a project for the reintroduction of ibexes, these launch areas were planned to be closed by winter 2007. If the wind at the summit is too strong, you can also launch above the mid-station.
