Description
Located 30 km south of Ohrid, Macedonia, near the Albanian border, this paragliding site is highly recommended for its excellent soaring and cross-country (XC) potential. It is also suitable for acro and SIV courses over water. The site is frequently used and offers a very good flying experience. The flying season spans spring, summer, and fall. Access to the take-off point is convenient via an asphalt road. The launch elevation is 1550 meters above sea level (ASL), with a steep slope and no obstructions, facing west and northwest. The landing zone (LZ) is a grassy field at 700 meters ASL. The region around Ohrid Lake is renowned for its strong thermals, which can take you up to 3000 meters and beyond. However, there are limited landing options along the XC route, so careful planning is essential. The mountain's steep terrain and strong midday winds make it ideal for hang gliding (HG) as well, but paragliders can also enjoy favorable conditions, especially in the late afternoon.
