Description
La Videmanette, located in the French-speaking part of Switzerland near Gstaad, offers a unique paragliding experience. This spot is not overly crowded and provides excellent thermal and panoramic flights.
To reach the take-off point, you need to account for a 15-minute walk from the mountain station to the summit cross, heading southwest. The area features numerous launch options within a 200-meter radius, making it versatile for different wind conditions.
In the afternoon, the thermals are particularly strong, providing good soaring conditions and the possibility for small cross-country flights. Once you leave the basin, you can catch thermals or soar along the ridge of Pointe de Canéen. The west valley wind ensures a relatively safe landing at LP Rougemont, located 5 km west of Saanen.
Please pay attention to the information boxes at the start and landing sites, as well as at the mountain stations, regarding wildlife protection areas.
For flights, you can easily ascend nearly 2000 meters using the cable car. The best conditions for flying from 'Rocher Plat' and 'La Videman' are in the afternoon, with updrafts lasting until the evening, offering a fantastic soaring experience.
