Description

Korsvika is a coastal soaring site that requires some experience due to its challenging takeoff and landing conditions. It is not recommended for new pilots. The site works well with winds over 3.5 - 4 m/s, allowing you to soar up to 100 meters in good conditions. One takeoff point is at the top of Kjerringberget behind a fence, but it can be tricky as you need to lay out your wing in the lee. With stronger winds, you can start from the grassy area (landing zone) and get lifted by staying close to Kjerringberget. If the wind is too northerly, the Kjerringberget takeoff is the only option. For updated weather data, visit [Trondheim Havn Weather](http://www.trondheim.havn.no/v%E6ret/default.asp). You can also check the live webcam directed at Korsvika at [Trondheim Havn Webcam](http://www.trondheim.havn.no/kamera/default.asp) - see images 2 and 4. The Nidaros Luftsportsklubb requires pilots to have a PP4 rating or a PP3 rating with at least 150 flights to fly at Korsvika. A life jacket is strongly recommended. Korsvika rarely works in winter but is often suitable in summer when the sea breeze creates good soaring conditions. The grassy landing area is also a great place for new pilots to practice ground handling.
