Description
This site, with an elevation of 324 meters, is rarely used and is ideal for walk & fly enthusiasts seeking a panoramic flight experience. You can start your hike from Kabelvåg or Svolværsia. Launch points are flexible, allowing you to start almost anywhere, and landings can be made on the marshes on either side of the mountain. There is a good southwest-facing launch spot right at the top.
Be cautious of unstable conditions with northerly to westerly wind directions; it's better to avoid these as Gimsøya offers much better conditions in such cases.
Remember to call the tower in Svolvær at +47 67 03 39 30 to inform them of your location, intended flight path, and estimated duration. If you're unsure about the duration, you can call again once you've landed.
