Description
For paragliding in Hienghène, there are two official takeoff points. The first is located on the massif behind the gendarmerie at an altitude of 470 meters, suitable for southeast or east-southeast launches. The second takeoff, known as "des antennes," is situated above the road leading from the village to the famous "hen" rock formation, also for east-southeast launches.
Landing is typically done at the football field located opposite the cultural center. The flying sites are primarily open during the Hienghène festival, and tandem flights are organized during this time. For more information, contact the Office of Tourism or the Association de Vol Libre de Nouvelle-Calédonie (AVLNC).
The main launch is 300 meters above the bay of Hienghène and the iconic hen rock formation. To reach the takeoff point, drive north to the marina from the village. In front of the shop, take the track up the hill. A 4WD vehicle or a horse is recommended, as it is a long walk otherwise.
This spot is ideal for discovery tandem flights, offering beautiful views. For weather conditions and potential hazards, it is best to consult local experts.
