Description
Fox Mountain is a paragliding and hang gliding site located in Williams Lake, Central British Columbia, Canada. This site is primarily used in winter and early spring when the lake is frozen, serving as the landing zone.
The launch is situated at an elevation of 2800 feet above sea level, with a steep chute between trees on the outskirts of Williams Lake. The landing zone is on Williams Lake at an elevation of 1850 feet above sea level. Be cautious of thin ice in the spring, and avoid flying alone during this period.
To reach the launch site, drive 2 km north of Williams Lake, take Fox Mountain Road for 3 km, then turn south for 1 km on the oil pipeline road.
The site offers ridge and thermal flying, with good cross-country potential up to 20 miles. However, it is important to note that this site has not been fully assessed by paragliders as of the last update in 2002.
For the latest information and updates on landing zones, contact local pilots or the British Columbia Paragliding and Hang Gliding Association.
