Paragliding Dielmissen am Ith

The Dielmissen flying site at Ith offers a height difference of 150 meters. If you are the first to arrive at the launch site, you must register via our online form and call the numbers listed on the notice board and launch site sign, even if you are a member. This is for your safety! The flight fee for guests is 7 EURO per day and must be paid to a club member present or via PayPal if no member is available: PayPal: arnemuellerson@yahoo.de. Please note that field paths must not be driven on by car. Only members or authorized individuals with an access permit may drive to the launch site, and only for transporting gliders. A maximum of three vehicles are allowed at the launch site; all others must be parked below. Our flying sites are not approved for training flights. Only pilots with the required and valid license and insurance may launch and fly. No paragliding is allowed in winds over 25 km/h due to the risk of strong gusts and lee-side turbulence, which can be life-threatening. The last launch is at 5:00 PM. If a pilot lands on the western neighboring property and needs to retrieve their glider from a tree or bush, they must inform the board or a DCI member on-site before entering the property and retrieving the glider. Parking is available at the edge of Dielmissen on the wide green strip on "Auf der Horst" street on the village side. Do not park before the sign on the right side of the path leading up. Always park in a way that allows wide agricultural machinery to pass. The walk to the launch site takes about 15-20 minutes. It is a pleasant path that starts flat and becomes steeper. Please do not walk across fields and meadows. Gliders may be transported up with a valid driving permit. Vehicles must be brought back down and not parked at the top; only three vehicles are allowed at the top. The launch site is the upper strip of meadow, only up to about 10 meters from the forest edge. Please do not use the meadow in front for ground handling. After the flight, land on the paths or preferably on the landing meadow. If you wish to ground handle, do not block those waiting to launch; stay off to the side. Initially, the site may not seem impressive. It requires a noticeable wind and some thermals to be enjoyable and has potential for cross-country flights, such as for the Harz Cup. For soaring alone, it is not ideal as you cannot fly the entire ridge (about 20 km) without some thermals. From the launch site towards the southeast, the distance is limited, but towards the northwest, you can fly over the quarry and further, provided the wind is not too strong (20 knots and more over the ridge). In such strong winds, there is lee turbulence before the quarry due to the protruding edge.
