Description
Located at an altitude of 1126 meters with a height difference of 430 meters, this paragliding site in the Allgäu region of Germany offers a mix of easy to medium difficulty flying conditions. It is a highly frequented spot, especially known for its reliable thermals and good soaring conditions, particularly at the northeast launch. While some cross-country flights are possible, long distances are rare.
The main launch site is a dependable northeast wind soaring spot, but it can get crowded along the small ridge. The mountain provides a beautiful view of the Allgäu hill country and is accessible via a chairlift that takes you comfortably to the mountain station, which features a restaurant and terrace.
The take-off area is a well-maintained flat launch strip with sufficient length and slope, suitable even for hang gliders. The summit hut, located at an altitude of 1120 meters, offers a perfect launch site near the mountain station. Another launch site at 1090 meters is a very steep ski slope along Bachweg.
The main landing area for paragliders is situated at 790 meters, south of the valley station, and can be approached depending on the wind direction. The main landing area for hang gliders is at 800 meters, further south, and requires a left-hand approach. Another landing area for paragliders is also at 800 meters near the valley station, which should be avoided during strong winds and by hang gliders.
The Buchenberg, located below the Tegelberg, serves as a fun and training flying site. This classic mid-mountain terrain has open slopes facing east, north, and west. While it poses no significant challenge for professionals, it is excellent for ridge soaring, especially with northeast winds. However, the ridge length is just under half a kilometer, making it quickly crowded. The ridge at Jagdberg is longer with northwest winds, providing more space. Reliable updrafts can be expected in summer and spring. Launches are in the lee during west wind conditions.

The chairlift operates from April to October in good weather, during winter for skiing, and recently on nice weekends. Hang gliders are transported only during summer operations.
