This site is regularly used and offers good cross-country (XC) potential. However, it is located within the HX Meiringen airspace, which is often active. Typically, it is less active on weekends, especially Sundays, but always check beforehand.

Best conditions: Light winds, summer, and autumn. Be cautious of the transport cable and the Bise wind.
Access: No cable car to Gummenalp. You can drive or take a train to Brienzer Rothorn. Meeting points for pilots are at the landing sites in Lauenen or Brienz Forsthaus. Please use the shuttle bus.
The launch site is accessible by road from Brienz, but a permit is required. In winter, the launch site can only be reached with snowshoes. The launch area is marked with a windsock and offers the possibility to ascend to Brienzer Rothorn, quickly reaching Interlaken or Planplatten. Landings are typically in Brienz/Lauenen (easy slope landing) or at the Forsthaus (near the lake).

From Brienz, drive to Stafelmad, then walk to the launch site. The launch area is a large, steep meadow.

- Flight over Obwalden - Nidwalden into Schächental and over the Klausenpass into Glarnerland
Difficulty: Note that there are two cables running over the launch slope.

Special Considerations:
- Wildlife Protection: Avoid wildlife protection areas or maintain at least 600 m distance from the slope.
- Planplatte: Restricted area Gental, minimum flight altitude 2000 m above sea level.
- Augstmatthorn: During the breeding season from April 1 to June 30, overflying the wildlife protection areas in the Augstmatthorn/Tannhorn hunting reserve is strictly prohibited during weekdays. Avoid overflights on weekends as much as possible.
- Gental: Minimum flight altitude of 2000 m above sea level.

Soaring Conditions: With light south winds and evening thermals, you can enjoy a relaxing flight. For cross-country pilots, thermals become more active around midday due to the orientation.
Takeoff: Be cautious of several cables near the takeoff area.
