Description
Located approximately 20 minutes south of Orkanger, towards Rindal/Surnadal, this paragliding site is rarely used but offers opportunities for thermal soaring and small cross-country flights. After passing Vormstad, you'll see a greenhouse on your right. Continue for 75 meters until you see a sign for Bygdetun, where you turn up. At the highest point of the road (2-3 km), there is a red house on the left with a turf roof, marked "Skogen" by the mailbox.
To the right, a path leads up to a sign marked "Bergemskammen," with a small parking area available. It's a 6-minute walk along a nice trail to the ridge itself. You can land on the plateau below if you prefer not to descend all the way into the valley.
The site has potential for both ridge soaring and thermal flying. There are plenty of landing options in the valley, and local farmers have given permission for landings.
If you continue straight past "Skogen," the road descends back to the main road between Svorkmo and StorÄs. You'll pass an old launch site familiar to some. Across the main road at the bottom is the primary landing area, a vast field. This is the quickest route for retrieval or a new flight. Those coming from Rindal will also find this the shortest route. The road is marked Bygdetun.
