Description
Hony, Belgium
This paragliding site in Hony, Belgium, is occasionally used and best suited for soaring. The site has a takeoff altitude of 240 meters and a height difference of 140 meters. The landing zone is at an altitude of 100 meters, requiring a glide ratio of 6 to reach it.
The takeoff area is a small clearing on a steep slope, making it suitable only for experienced pilots due to its narrowness and the presence of trees. The landing zone is a large meadow on the right bank next to a bridge, accessible only on foot. Be cautious of barbed wire near the landing area.
The site is located under the TMA of Liège, so pilots must not fly higher than 761 meters above sea level. Cross-country flights are only possible towards the East and North-East due to airspace restrictions.
To reach the takeoff, follow the N633 road from Tilf to Esneux, turn right towards Hony, and take the path leading to Plaineveaux. Park near a water cabin when the path descends and walk the remaining distance.
Special thanks to the P.C. de Visé and Aéroloisir clubs for maintaining the site. Be aware of high-tension cables behind the takeoff and turbulence in northwesterly winds.
