Paragliding Ascheloh-Hermannsweg

The Ascheloh Hermannsweg site in Halle, Germany, offers a unique paragliding experience. The launch site is situated in a forest clearing along the ridge of the Teutoburg Forest and can only be accessed on foot. It is important to note that launching should not be attempted in crosswinds due to strong turbulence. The optimal wind directions for launching are from the west to southwest, with WSW being ideal. Landing is done on the lower part of the slope on the meadow at the training hill of the Bielefeld flight school. The site is managed by the Werther-Westfalen flight school (Udo Wilhelm), and pilots must obtain permission from Udo Wilhelm before launching. The site is suitable for both hang gliders and paragliders, with a height difference of 134 meters. The authorized wind directions for takeoff range from south to northwest, with southwest to west being optimal. Since January 1, 2010, the Ascheloh site is available exclusively to pilots authorized and registered by the Werther-Westfalen flight school. All pilots must receive an orientation from the flight school before their first flight. Flight students can use the Leimkühler landing meadow, while A or B license holders may also use the Dröge landing meadow. It is crucial not to disrupt training operations in the lower part of the site. Foreign guest pilots with comparable licenses must also contact the flight school at +49 171 8522203 before their first flight but are exempt from the start fee. The site is maintained by a group of pilots known as the "Friendly Pilots" (FP-group), who are dedicated to preserving and caring for the area.
